the FOUND Side of Lost

A vacation unfit for the lonely business of butterflies

The lonely business of butterflies
turns nature into profit,
A slow turning of two singular wings
that give way to a dance of passion.
A not quite two month dance
that occupies the same southward course
marked by a thousand years of weather,
yet highlighted by the hope for a warm Baja sun,
but sadly ending before the sun sets.
If only we could learn to live as the butterflies do,
in their worst of days.
We can learn to carry ourselves
through what our destiny has chosen for us.
Through the coldest winters,
Our brightest colors shining in the hottest of summers.
Though it should come easier for us
with arms as strong as an entire history of Monarchs.
We can learn to lean on each other,
with the potential to break through walls.
Delicate wings are left behind
to be replaced by imagination,
resting on our shoulders.
Possibilities on each side of where we stand
at any given moment.
Soon, we’ll take holiday with the butterflies
But Instead of drifting down a lonely futile course,
we can choose to stray to one of a million directions
and we can choose to make that final round trip.
An impossible dream for a butterfly
makes for a perfectly reachable mountain of human potential .
